Since it was first created 3 years ago RWBY, which can be bought here, has been a solid anime. There are many reasons for RBWY’s success including the animation style, the character and the story that is being told. This anime has faced some challenges as Monty Oum passed away right before the 3rd Volume, yet despite this challenge the show has been unbelievable and remains popular with fans. In particular Episode 7 of RWBY Volume 3 is the turning point as it establishes the backstory of Cinder, Emerald, and Mercury and how they obtained Fall‘s (Amber’s) power.
Episode 7 does not pick up where episode 6 ended but rather focuses on Emerald, Mercury and Cinder in a flashback. The flashback starts with Cinder discovering Emerald’s ability of projection. Shortly after they discover Mercury who has just burned his house down limping away as bandages are wrapped around his knees. The bandages imply how Mercury became a double below the knee amputee. While Mercury’s recovering Cinder goes to Adam, leader of White Fang, and Blake where she is declined assistance for her goals. Immediately following this Cinder and her team set out to go and steal Fall’s power. This results in Fall being deceived at first by Emerald leading to the two of them to fight. As the fight progress Mercury backs up Emerald but both of them almost wind up being killed. This shows how much power Fall has. Right before Fall deals the finishing blow Cinder shoots her with an arrow rendering her neutralized. With Fall being neutralized Cinder wearing a special glove and an insect like a Grimm creature begins to absorb her power. Before all of her power is absorbed Qrow interrupts them saves Fall as Cinder’s team retreats. The episode ends with Emerald and Cinder in an ambulance and Mercury stating the plan is going perfectly.
Episode 7 reveals many things in the RWBY universe. The most important being that Cinder has a good portion of Fall’s powers. In obtaining these powers she now has an alliance with White Fang due to the fact that they have similar interests despite being different species. This alliance is suspected to be part of the reason why Blake had left White Fang as Cinder has gained influence and is changing their plans to match her own. This episode also revealed that Qrow is not the traitor who is passing information along as he saved Fall. In doing so he is one of the few people currently in Beacon who knows what the enemy looks like and the power that they control. Along with Blake knowing the full extent of the situation puts both these characters at the epicenter of helping to find a solution to prevent or in the worse case meditate the threat of Cinder’s plan.
Episode 7 is a turning point in the anime RWBY as it reveals information that is crucial to the series. Furthermore, unlike most animes it organically utilizes a flashback that is packed with action scenes that further the anime. Without a doubt RWBY, Volume 3, Episode 7, is a perfect example of why this anime is one of the greatest series to come out in the last few years.
