Akame ga Kill is 24/unpredictable

Each year there are different animes that are released. Some of these anime shows are amazing and others are not. Akame ga Kill is one of the amazing shows that just finished airing on Crunchyroll. It is a 24-episode show that White Fox studio produced. The show itself has just finished but the manga, which can be purchased here, is continuing and is a fantastic read that is closely associated with the anime.

The anime is a great watch. The first episode sets the tone for the entire series. In the first episode in the first half we are introduced to a typical, but likable, idiot character trying to make a name for him self. A woman who is from a rich family takes in the main character, Tatsumi. During the night that he is taken in he is exposed to the evils that this woman has done which is to kill Tatsumi’s two friends. The group that exposes this evil is Night Raid whose mission is to kill people. Instead of Night Raid killing the young women Tatsumi does it. This action by Tatsumi is unexpected and as a result shows that the anime is full of unexpected moments through out the series. The element of the unexpected is one of the major draws in this anime as many animes have predictable plot lines. So to have a show that is unpredictable is refreshing to watch. Furthermore, the anime stays fresh after each episode as the plot cannot be predicted and as a result is exciting to watch episode after episode. The first episode sets the tone of the entire anime and each episode is just as unpredictable as the one before it.

The other component why the show is interesting to watch is the level of gore that is shown. I have watched many animes that are about warfare and fighting but this is by far the bloodiest and goriest filled anime I have ever seen. In viewing this show the style of violence is similar to Afro Samurai where a person is cut, resulting in a splurge of blood and then they die. The difference between Akame ga Kill and Afro Samurai is that the level of gore is at an extreme rather then being mild. Furthermore, the violence is aimed at a few points. The first point conveys the idea that in order to be part of a revolution, which is the show’s focal point, blood and gore has to occur. The second aim is the experience it gives to a viewer of this anime. During the first few episodes you are semi horrified about the killings and how violence induced they are. As the show continues into its later episodes the effect the bloody scenes have on you are lessened. You become accustomed to the level of gore and in a sense have grown cold toward killing. This is the exact feeling that Tatsumi and the other members of Night Raid are experiencing. Agame ga Kill is unique in anime and the show projects the psychological feelings of the anime characters onto the viewers, which brings the audience closer to the characters.

Akame ga kill is a fantastic show as it is an unpredictable show in a predicable anime world. Furthermore, the show evokes emotions in its viewers, which are parallel to what the main character and his friends are experiencing. Since a parallel is created, a viewer can relate to the anime easily and connect with it on a different level. Ultimately, this is one anime that should be watched and is enjoyable on many levels.
