Crossover comics are some of the best comics that any fan can read. DC Comics and IDW have done the unthinkable as Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are sharing the same comic book, which can be purchased here. These heroes do not need to team up as they have been appearing, building a fan base, and telling amazing comic stories for years independently. With the heroes being introduced to one another the possibilities are endless, but one outcome is certain many fans from both comic titles are only going to be craving more.
The premise of the comic is that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are fighting, an evil ninja group, the Foot Clan. In fighting the Foot Clan the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles followed them into Gotham where they are stranded. The Foot Gang is robbing research facilities to steal high-end research equipment to build something. As a result of these crimes and Wayne enterprises being targeted Batman has become involved and begins to investigate. At the same time Batman is fighting the Foot Clan the Turtles’ square off against Killer Croc and his gang who they soundly defeat. The issue ends with Batman in a stare down with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles not knowing if they are friends or allies.
The crossover comic of Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) is a wonderful addition to the modern age of comics. It allows fans to experience what an interaction is like between heroes who are in different comic universes. The comic itself tends to read more like a Batman story due to it taking place in Gotham. Furthermore, there is a mystery component to the comic as the Turtles appear to be framed by the Foot Clan, who are succeeding in stealing technology. Yet despite it being a story that is dominated by Batman’s character, the TMNT have action scenes and provide moments of humor that foil the seriousness of Batman. By providing humor they remind the readers that this comic is meant to be a fun entertaining read for the fans. The first issue of this comic tells a story but also interjects humor and truly captures both worlds of Batman and the TMNT.
This is one of those comics that captures what comics were initially about which is to entertain the reader. This comic can be purchased here.
