Saga 25th issue 2’s a pair 3’s a story

Saga has reached a milestone when its 25th issue came out on Wednesday, February 4th 2015. This issue was similar to every other Saga issue, but had some interesting differences. The similarities are, the art was amazing, the writing was great, and its still being produced by Image. The only difference was that when Saga arcs start out they tend to be milder and have a feature that draws people in on a whole different level.

The 25th issue is the craziest and most exciting issue of Saga that has been published so far. This is not to say that all issues of Saga are not good but this one was above the rest. The premise of the issue is the division of the main characters. With these character divisions, new alliances are formed and new enemies are formed. Saga previously had defined who the enemies were and their positions. In this issue old enemies do not necessarily remain enemies. Much can be said about people who share the same ideologies and have now become enemies.

The perfect example of former enemies who have started to become allies is Marko and Prince Robot the VI. The backstory of these two is that Prince Robot is tasked with tracking down Marko and his baby and killing them to return to his family. The circumstance changed from both men’s prospective, as somebody kidnapped both their children. This forced them to team up and tracked down their children and families instead of fighting each other. This event redefines who the enemy is in Saga. In the first 24 issues Prince Robot was trying to kill Marko and visa versa. In this issue the two men have been getting along to reach a common goal.

Another part of the story in issue 25 is Alana, Hazel and Dengo should be allies as they share goals, but they are enemies. Dengo’s interest in ending the war is due to his son indirectly being taken away. Dengo’s plan is to utilize the Prince’s son and Hazel is in a plan with the revolutionary army to stop the war. Alana and Hazel have been kidnapped and are held captive by Dengo. Alana’s goals do not match up with Dengo’s even though if he were successful Hazel, Marko and herself would be able to live peacefully without being hunted. Alana views Dengo as using her daughter as a political pawn for his own ends rather then the end of a war. Naturally any mother would not allow her child to be put in danger if it could be avoided.

These two stories are joined by a third story. This third story is addressing the group that is interested in healing The Will who was damaged while on the job. The Brand and Gwendolyn are on the quest for certain items that will bring back The Will. Unfortunately they run into trouble from a female dragon, marking them to be hunted. Since they are marked it is implied that they are forced to fight a group of dragons to get one of the items needed to revive The Will. Both The Brand and Gwendolyn have different reasons for going through such high risk, but they both are motivated by love. Gwendolyn’s love is more sexual while The Brand’s is a sibling based loved.

These three stories are all different from one another. The first story in this comic foils the other two. The story focuses on Marko and Prince Robot the VI being enemies but working together to accomplish a goal. The second story foils this as two groups share an ideology that is similar but instead of working together are fighting one another. The third story foils both of the previous stories, as it is about two people working together to save another person based on emotion. Ultimately, Saga issue 25 addresses many different emotions through the use of three different stories that are part of one larger story.
