Sunrise and RightStuf NYCC Gundam Announcement

Has anybody ever had the desire to own some of the Gundam series on DVD or Blu-ray, yet you couldn’t find them to buy? Or even better, you found them but each collection was too expensive. Those concerns are soon going away as a new deal with RightStuf has just been announced. While waiting you can purchase the manga for the Original Gundam here.

Before I get into the deal with RightStuf that was announced at New York Comic Con, RightStuf has done an excellent job of distributing Gundam products in particular the DVD and Blu-rays. A perfect example of this was the successful sale of Gundam Unicorn, leading to a new deal with Sunrise. What better time to foster a deal then during the 35th Anniversary of Gundam!

By the way, this deal makes me absolutely happy and is bringing back 2 titles. These titles are the original Mobile Suit Gundam that is the 43 episodes that started the Gundam franchise. When they say they are bringing it back, what they mean is the series is going to be available on DVD and possibly on Blu-ray. Currently, if you want to buy the first Gundam series it will cost you an arm and a leg but with the new re-release it will be cheaper.  The release date is unknown at this time but is expected to be soon.

The second release is a bigger shock! America is getting an old, but new, Gundam series. This is none other than Turn A Gundam. Turn A Gundam has never been released in the United States until now, and it will be distributed through RightStuf. It is a very exciting day for Gundam Fans! We are seeing for the first time a Gundam series that has not been official in the U.S., and that release is coming in a very special 35th Anniversary Year of Gundam.

A third announcement was made during NYCC for Gundam Fans. This announcement stated that ZZ Gundam is to be released in America. More news will be following that release in the next few weeks. NYCC has been a busy 4 days for Gundam Fans. Sunrise has announced a major deal that will change the purchasing and completion of many Gundam Fan’s libraries, starting with Mobile Suit Gundam and Turn A Gundam.
